I am considering buying one but as they are expensive I thoughT I would try and find out how effective they can be with long term use.
I went under one when I had chinese therapy for a chest infection whilst it was effective (even though just the one off treatment) I'm still have my reservations.
Thank you
I would appreciate any comments please.
Carolyn do you have to be so rude young lady?
A: Not only is this definitely useless, it may well risk making your asthma worse. The fumes may act as a trigger. Even steam inhalation has been shown to make things worse! Please do not consider this. If you are having problems with symptom control see your GP. If things are still not going well ask for a referral to a respiratory physician.
Q: Anyone know the difference between asthma & bronchial asthma?
There is a difference i know. I also know bronchial asthma is much more dangerous than asthma. What do you know about the difference? Thank you
A: At www.webmd.com it states that asthma is basically a chronic inflammation of the bronchial tubes that makes them swell and narrow the airways. It involves ONLY the bronchial tubes, and not the air sacs or the lungs, and it can be hereditary from generation to generation. I've had chronic bronchitis for years and at one time was told it was bronchial asthma by my doctor, but my bouts with it usually came after a severe cold or strep throat. Believe it or not, my last case of it was caused from my CAT (he'd been sneezing and was on medication for it, and one night he was lying on my chest and sneezed in my face. The next morning, I also had a cold.).

A: . Did you try to Google those words: "nursing journal"?
1 example: "ABSTRACT: PURPOSE: To determine the impact of asthma during pregnancy from the perspective of the pregnant woman." , or 2. "HEALTH & SAFETY: Health Care Workers and Asthma: ‘Occupational asthma’ is a risk for nurses." etc for 10 pages!
....... "AJN is the oldest and largest circulating nursing journal in the world. The Journal's mission is to promote excellence in nursing and health care through the dissemination of evidence-based, peer-reviewed clinical information and original research..etc. " .
Q: I want to know if I still have bronchial asthma, how?
I had bronchial asthma around 7 months ago. I was confined to the hospital and I became fine. Now, Im going to take the track and field class. but I am not sure if Im already allowed to. To whom should I consult?
A: Your doctor, things like this, depending on what age you were diagnosed means a lot, some people have what they call a 7 year cycle, hayfever, sinus, asthma, but if you are older than 21 I would recommend that you get a preventer as well as a reliever, cause the later you get it, the worse it is, and the chance of it going away is alot slimmer, my brother had croup, then hayfever, then sinus, then got asthma, so hes got it for life, my partner just got a mild flu, was nearly over it, then his brother turned up with a full on flu, and unfortunately, he got a chest infection (which is common for bronchial asthmatics) then a full on asthma attack, he couldnt breathe, he went on the nebuliser for about half an hour but cause he was so scared, had a panic attack and started hypoventolating, we had to slow his breathing down, he was shaking and crying, he thought he was going to die, which of course frightened him all the more, strangely I was very calm, if I'm upset he knows its bad, but I was very calm and he was lifted by that, dont know how I did it, but hes fine now, you really need to be in control of it before you start trying to do anything like this, dont be discouraged, if the condition is under control, then you go for it and I wish you well, goodluck! :)

Q: Does bronchial asthma and accute sinus in a mother relate to growth of cystic hygroma in a fetus?
i have accute bronchial asthma and sinus associated with a lot of allergies, wheezing and difficult in breathing sometimes.could it be also related to the growth of a cystic hygroma in the male fetus they recently terminated from me. From some explanations i got from the net cystic hygroma is as a result of some technical difficulties that occur in the lymphatic system(failure to connect) and i assume that bronchial asthma and sinus do have a connection and directly affect the lymphatic system.could it in a way have been passed on to the fetus and hence development of all those complications? Please can i get an answer in a simple language from someone with medical knowledge so that i can stop assuming what is right and wrong. im disturbed.
A: No; you have made an error here. First; Asthma and allergic sinusitis is not primarily a defect of the lymphatic system as it is of the immunologic system as a whole. But even if you had primary lymphatic disease (of whatever type and severity), that fact (to the best of my knowledge) would have no bearing on the development of a hygroma. Even if it did, there was nothing that you could have done. IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT.
Cystic hygromas are usually associated with some kind of chromosomal abnormality(Turner’s, Noonans and Downs syndromes). They can also be caused by viral infections or extreme alcohol intake by the mother during pregnancy
There might be some research showing me wrong. The only way to know for sure is to speak to an M.D. who specializes in fetal development and birth defects.
Q: what are the managements of acute attack of bronchial asthma?

Q: Can anyone give me a source or idea about the pathophysiology of Bronchial Asthma?
thanks in advance
A: Asthma is a disease of diffuse airway inflammation caused by a variety of triggering stimuli resulting in partially or completely reversible bronchoconstriction. Symptoms and signs include dyspnea, chest tightness, and wheezing. The diagnosis is based on history, physical examination, and pulmonary function tests. Treatment involves controlling triggering factors and drug therapy, most commonly with inhaled β-agonists and inhaled corticosteroids. Prognosis is good with treatment.
Please see the web pages for more details on Asthma.
Q: bronchial asthma(important)?
i have bronchial asthma and i only suffer from it during the winter.
But earlier today my chest began to tighten and i began coughing allot.
The reason was my home suffered from water damage and really bad mold.so they removed allot of the carpet and walls so it is also pretty dusty.
Now i dont really know if bronchial asthma is the same as other asthmas so can someone tell me if i was having a minor asthma attack and what might have triggered it. so i know what i can tell my doctor
i dont have an inhaler with me so i just got some fresh air and drunk tea
A: Mold can give of spores which can bring on an asthma attack, also dust can cause asthma attacks. When you felt tight chested and coughing did you use your inhaler? Also the cold can bring on asthma
Q: what are the sign and symptoms of bronchial asthma and its diagnostic procedure?
A: A simple test is a Peak Flow test....how fast a person can breath out a forced breath. It isn't a complete diagnostic test like a PFT (pulmonary function test), but the results can give the doctor a good indication of a possible asthma problem. A pre bronchodilator test (before giving a treatment of a bronchodilator like albuterol or xopenex) and a post PF test after the bronchodilator treatment is given, helps determine quickly if the greatest possiblity of the problem is asthma. If there is good improvement in the Peak Flow after a broncodilator treatment has been given, there is a good possibility the problem is asthma. Of course, a more thorough exam should be done at a later date.
Q: where can i find the example of nursing care plan of bronchial asthma?
A: Your brain. Kidding. You poor thing. Care plans sucked in nursing school. And I have never made one since in my 8 years as a RN. They are all written out for ya in the real world, NICE!! There are plenty of books out there. Any book store like Barnes and Noble or Waldenbooks will do. Thats what I did. Or check out your med surg book. There has got to be something in there. Good Luck with it!!
Q: im 16 years and i have bronchial asthma but im a very heavy weed smoker. am i in any danger?
but i hear weed isnt that harmful i was wondering how this could affect me because im already suffering from severe congestion and i have sinus problems and i just tried cocaine for the first time a couple days ago and i feel very sick
A: okay well I'm pretty sure you did cocaine only for experimentation because everyone is curious about what the big ruckus is about cocaine. Marijuana actually dilates the passageways in your lungs which can actually help ease your breathing and wheezing. But everyones body needs a break from any substance that they aren't using very moderately even substances such as caffeine or a simple pain reliever such as ibuprofen. So I suggest you give your body a break for all these substances and let you defenses take a rest and allow your liver to detoxify all the substances roaming your body. =)
