Q: diet..................?
so im 15. 230lbs. 6ft. i recently lose 20lbs. i was 250. now i exercise enough. active and play sports everyday. go to the gym. but the one thing missing is a diet. what should i eat in a day. like what type of foods to eat or not to eat? i usually eat breakfast. some cereal or something. and lunch chicken or something like that. dont really eat vegetable or fruits. my trainer said that what i eat isnt at all a good diet, and i aint losing weight with just excersize alone.

A: I'm not sure how many calories you should have daily, but I do know the list of good foods to eat because I have just recently started a healthy diet for myself. for breakfast you want to have some type of fruit. have this when you wake up and wait a while to eat the rest of your breakfast which should be high fiber cereal, whole wheat toast, etc. For lunch you should have whole wheat bread with low fat meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and LITE mayonnaise or honey mustard. either that or a well balanced salad. my favorite for dinner is whole wheat pasta with a side salad. snack can be basically anything under 100 calories.. also, if you drink a lot of milk, switching to nonfat actually does a lot of good. stay clear from white bread. whole wheat everything, if you can! hope this helps!

Q: Diet!!! >=[ !!!?
Anyone have good tips for a diet and exercise? I'm 15 and i'm 130 pounds 5 foot 6 inches. I was hoping to lose some weight because lately, i've been gaining weight, so i wanna look healthy by the summer. Also, tips to STICK to a diet??? i can NEVER stick to a diet!! i always start a diet, and then i end up forgetting it. PLEASE HELP!!! thnxx =] ♥ also is there any way to speed up my metabolism??? any advice to keep weigth off after losing it??

A: Dieting can be tricky, especially at such a young age. A HUGE reason we grab junk food is not because we really "need" it... it's because our blood sugar (glucose) is low and our body knows that sugars will do a quick job of restoring our levels. A suggestion that worked for me: Make yourself eat something healthy every 2 hours. I know this sounds difficult, and it is at first. But keeping your glucose levels steady with apples, carrots, broccoli, etc., will really help. Also, every time you are tempted to eat something not-so-good-for-you, remind yourself that your brain is just telling you that your glucose levels are down and it doesn't require junk food to restore them. Make sure everyone around you (including your parents) knows about your plan to stick to a healthy diet so they can encourage you in your efforts. Another tip: recently, I lost about 20 pounds by drinking a juice that someone had recommended to me. I loved it so much that I now sell it (don't get me wrong... I'm not a salesperson, I'm a chiropractic student). The basis behind Goji juice (pronounced "go - g" as in "Gee Whiz") is that it helps to alkalinize your body. Basically, carbohydrates and lipids (fats) get turned into acid in your body. Since we live in a society where carbs and lipids are the main source of calories in our diet (even when we're trying REALLY hard to avoid them!), most of us have very acidic bodies. Viruses & bacteria love an acidic environment and thrive and reproduce in our warm, acidic bodies. That's one of the reasons we get sick all the time. Lipids are also stored in our bodies when they are not basic. So this juice helps to balance out the acid and allows us to let go of the excess weight. The only reason I tell everyone about it now is because of the impact it's had in my life. If you're intrested in checking it out, you can visit my page at http://sarahhudak.freelife.com. No matter what route you choose in losing weight, just make sure you play it smart, ask for advice from those who know about it, and have fun!

Q: What diet pills work the best without having to do much or a diet?
I just had a baby and trying to lose some weight before my husband gets back from Iraq :) I dont have much time to diet or work out but I try at time and do try and watch what I eat if I even have the time to. Please help me out as much as you can...thanks so much!

A: I would suggest just proper diet and exersize, because if you are still breastfeeding your baby, the chemicals in the weightloss pills could be ridiculously harmful to your baby, also, there is NO TELLING what they put in those pills. Congratulations on your husband coming home, God Bless him for serving his country. My husband just came back in May and though he was injured, it was the happiest day of my life to see him alive! Good luck and God bless!

Q: What diet pills are safest to take that wont mess with trying to become pregnant in the future?
What are the safest diet pills? What diet pills are safest to take that wont mess with trying to become pregnant later? Ive heard some can make you have at least 3 miscarriage's before being able to carrying a healthy baby to full term.

A: diet pills are not healthy or effective long-term they reap havoc on the endocrine system; the function in our body which regulates everything from body temperature to hair growth to hormones & skin condition. & will most certainly not create an ideal environment in which a baby may survive. eat healthy & get moderate exercise. you can start by walking 30 min/day & you will be doing a world of good for yourself & your baby.

Q: How important is the diet when it comes to a workout plan?
I read these magazines that have these excellent workout plans. I do the workouts, but I don't do the crazy diet that they show with it. I don't eat a lot of egg whites and things like that, but I do make sure I eat healthy and drink protein shakes like "Muscle Milk". Is it important to follow the diet plan that they have in these magazines? I mean, prisoners don't follow a series diet plan and they come out pretty ripped.

A: Well me being a competitive bodybuilder, me and my friends at the gym always acknowledge diet as the most important aspect to bodybuilding. If you don't eat properly then you wont get the results you want; for example if you are wanting to get ripped than you need to cut back on the calories and increase your protein intake. If you want to add mass then you need to increase your caloric intake and eat plenty of carbs. Remember weather your a bodybuilder or not, you are what you eat, and if you don't diet properly then you wont get the results that you are looking for in the gym.

Q: Does a low carb diet lower the amount of good bacteria in your gut?
If I go on a low carb diet, will it lower the amount of good bacteria in my gut? Also, if I take probiotics, will they be able to be sustained in my gut on a low carb diet or will the probiotics be ineffective in providing benefits if I am on a low carb diet? Thanks.

A: No, a "low carb" diet will not ruin the good bacteria in your gut unless you're eating way too much cheese. The probiotics would be a good idea too. Also, "low carb" diets are not a good idea. Better to eat plenty of unrefined carbs like fruits and veggies for fiber. If you're eating just protein or fat it's not good for the kidneys, esp. long term. Dr. Atkins, who popularized the low carb diets died of a heart attack after all.

Q: What is the best diet for a cockatoo who will not each fresh fruit or veggies?
When I rescued my bird, the previous owner said that he would eat only peanuts, coffee and toast!!! Fortunately, a vet check-up deemed him in great shape despite the poor diet and smokey environment where he lived. My vet demands that the cockatoo be switched to a 100% pellet diet using HARRISON'S commercial pellets. Everything I read prescribes a varied diet to include mixed seeds and fresh food along with pellets. He delights in eating nuts from the shell including walnuts, hazel nuts, pecans and Brazil nuts. I am offering 2/3 pellets and 1/3 seed mixture and most of it is eaten (or on the floor of the cage) each day. My bird delights in drinking cranberry juice and apple juice from a cup while I have my coffee which I know is a poison for birds. He throws all fresh food out of his cup but will take cooked meat and whipped cream if I feed it by hand. I would love to hear from other cockatoo owners about their success with food for their bird.

A: i have a cockatoo....with a similar problem. i brought her home as a foster care for a bird rehabilitation center (that's where i got so into birds).the center took her and her family from a abusive and lazy owner.she would beat her dogs and cats and birds, let the cats out free with the birds, and so on and so on.they tried to keep up with her mother and her sister but her mother died form cancer and lack of nutrition. her sister was in a foster care too, but she died two weeks after the foster care took her in. the center had so many birds and did not have the time to take care of a 2 week old cockatoo. so i took her in. i hand fed her, and spoiled her and took her to the pet store with me for her to pick out her own toys (when she was strong and old enough of course). and so i adopted her and when she was weened off her formula and hooked on a pellet/seed mix i started her with veggies. she just wouldn't eat them, id chop em up real small but she still found them. so what i did(i know its cheating) is i took her old baby syringe and blended up her veggies and fruits and gave it too her like i did her formula. soon it was regular, and i decided to ween her from the veggie smoothie, so i mixed in her veggies with the smoothie and i started to add more whole fruit and less smoothie and now she eats veggies regularly! i hope this can help.... and i hope this wasn't too long!

Q: What is a good diet for someone without a gall bladder who is trying to lose weight?
I eat healthy, exercise but it seems that no matter what I try I don't seem to be losing weight. People keep telling me to eat a low fat diet but the doctor told me that eating low fat is what killed my gall bladder. He said that everything in moderation. However it seems that if I eat too much protein I get sick, if I eat low fat I get sick. I am so confused until I am on the verge of just giving up. I try to balance it out but I don't seem to lose a pound. Can someone help? I need realistic help. I have a very understanding family but I don't want to make them suffer with special diet. I can prepare two meals for dinner if need be but it would be easier to just prepare one. Any suggestions? I am also looking for something long term. More like a life change as apposed to a diet.

A: Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods: -- Nuts, any kind (almonds are best) -- Beans/Legumes -- Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!) -- Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat) -- Eggs -- Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list) -- Olive oil -- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta -- Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner) -- Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea

Q: What's the best diet you tried that yielded you the greatest results and didn't make you crazy?
I need to lose some weight-- about 40-50 pounds. I am intelligent and know that decreasing caloric intake and increasing my activity level will do that, but its so hard to stick to a diet when everyone else in the family isn't dieting. Any tricks or tips that I'm not aware of? Or do I have to just commit to Weight Watchers or another plan and also put my family on a diet as well?

A: the best one i can recommend is not actually a diet as you dont restricts your self from foods just dont eat as much carbs drink lots and lots of water eat five small healthy meals a day eat plenty of fruit and veg and try not to snack on crisps and ice cream do a 1 hr jog a day if you can and also try to fit in some muscle building exercise and try to get the whole family to do it so your not alone good luck x also for dinner always have something steamed cooked

Q: What is the diet called where you slowly add carbs during the week and have one free day?
I read an article that I can no longer find about this diet. You start off at the beginning of each week eating almost no carbs. By the middle of the week you add some fruits and whole grains. On day 7 you can eat whatever you want, but go back to low carb on day one again. What is this diet called?

A: I have no idea but ask my don't go on any diet if u think you heavy cut down how much u eat i used to be 145 pounds and in 2 month i lost my weight i became 105 losing 40 pounds i lost muscle with it but i lost my fat belly with out any sagging skin or extra skin; How i done this. I used to eat two -3 plates away in like 5 mins i cut to one plate and ate slower taking 20 mins which goes by talking to family and dinner table or watching tv and eat slowly the brain will tell u when u are full Also i only ate when my belly was growling for food I tended to put my hand on my bell which now is found out to help u burn some fat too Hope this works for u Ps. Q: How effective is the Atkins diet in the long run?
I'm trying to lose some weight and someone told me to go on the atkins diet. Personally I'm a little concerned about it. My younger brother playes football for his high school and whenever he needs to lose weight in a hurry he goes the atkins route. The problem is he never stays on it and his weight jumps right back up. I want to lose some weight but, I don't want to go up and down like that. Does anyone know if the atkins diet is safe or is my brother just unable to stay on the diet?

A: Your awareness of the need to be fit is commendable. My answer comes from my experience as a professional health care provider (holistic), as well as my success in Weight Watchers. I've worked with thousands of patients, and witnessed people trying different "diets." That's the key: A diet doesn't work (is also unsafe), because it's not conducive to daily living. While your brother is probably too young to be interested in Weight Watchers, I recommend it over any diet. With Atkins in particular, I've known patients long enough who started enthused (given the advertising and success stories, after all), but ended up disillusioned. You might start with Weight Watchers, which teaches us how to live wisely, in a way that's enjoyable and doable. Your brother might be inspired by you. My husband and I each dropped 35 pounds in 6 months (7 years ago). Despite wobbles, we've kept most of it off. We followed the program, though, including attending meetings until we met our goal (although you can continue longer), for support and healing emotions that inevitably surface as fat ceases to cover them. I've included a blog about my experience, in case that might help you. Best wishes (and let us know how you do).

Q: What diet should I feed my dog with cancer?
He has had surgery for hemangiosarcoma, and I want to prolong the life he has left. I've just switched him to a raw diet combined with all protein and vegetable kibble. No grains. Yes, I have talked with the vet and he suggested a few different diets. I am looking for peoples' experiences. I"m also giving him 1000 mg of Omega 3 a day.

A: O my goodness I asked the same question last week. Im so sorry your dog has cancer, I know what youre going through and it will be ok. I make my dogs food as well, as this is the best way to control the cancer. And I give her Orijen grain free kibble if shes still hungry at night. I mainly feed chicken and just add vegetables I have on hand, like celery, zucchini, potato etc (but not sugary ones) So far youve got it right, No Grains. These turn to glucose which feeds cancer cells. You also want to limit naturally sugary vegetables like carrots and pumpkin, and only feed fruit on occasion if you want. Look up the cancer starving diet, which limits the amount of glucose you give to a dog because cancer cells need glucose to survive. Here are two GREAT sites http://www.b-naturals.com/Sum1998.php http://www.b-naturals.com/newsletter/cancer-diet/ EDIT: I also add NUPRO supplement to her food, which completely balances the meal, as well as Salmon Oil. It is good to make sure your dog gets a lot of Protein and good fatty acids like Omega 3. GOOD LUCK
