Q: Best diet?
My boyfriend and I are starting to diet but we are not sure what the best diet is? Low carb? Low fat? Do we need to count calories? Healthy meal ideas? Has anyone had really good results with any particular diet? Our goal is to diet for 30 days, loose some weight and/or tone up. Yes we will be going to the gym 3x a week.

A: i hate fad diets.. so i'm not going to point out a particular diet plan.. but basically avoid sugar and white flour.. and caffiene.. caffiene stores pockets of fat in your body.. avoid junk food and eat breakfast.. drink tons of water.. and if you have the choice of frying or grilling something, grill it.. oh and don't only eat like once a day or something.. it's healthy to have up to six small meals a day (three actual meals, three snacks).. only eating once a day makes you body think it's starving and it will actually hold on to fat.. so yeah.. that's not really a specific diet like atkins or anything.. but i hope it helped anyway.. good luck and congrats on wanting to be healthier..

Q: What is the best diet for people with heart disease, stroke and blood disorders?
I have been considering changing my diet to vegetarian because of my personal and family health history including heart disease, strokes and blood disorders. My boyfriend is overweight and has heart problems and diabetes. What diet would be best for us?

A: Low soduim, low fat diet. Stay away from processed food, fast food. Eat lean meat stay away from red meats. Try to bake your food not fry it. Do not add salt. Eat plenty of green vegies

Q: What is the best diet to follow while working out?
I am about to start back to the gym and wondering what is the best diet to follow while working out. I understand that you can not achieve the results you want just by working out. So, I am going to be doing a combo cardio and free weights three times a week first thing in the mornings. I am looking to of coarse lose body fat and tone and define my body. Sould I drink a protein shake before I workout and after. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A: The two best non-diet, diet plans I have used and swear by are the "Abs Diet" written by the editor of Men's Health magazine. A good, humerous read, easy to follow and is a way of life that will work well with your workout routine. The second book I have read as well as the cookbook is "The Eat- Clean Diet Book", written by the editor of Oxygen Magazine". Again it is life style, not a restrictive diet. They are excellent guidelines and I have had great results with both plans.

Q: What is the best diet for patients with gastroparesis?
I was just diagnosed today with gastroparesis and would like to see what diet would be best for me. If you have any adivce, suggestions or recipes that would be great!

A: I would think small frequent meals. Not really sure any special diets that they would want you to try. Usually Reglan taken before meals and at bedtime helps too.

Q: What is the best diet to combat depression?
I am a vegetarian. I do take milk, and sometimes eggs, although I ideally want to quit eating eggs too. So given these constraints, what is the best anti-depression diet for me!? Thanks!

A: No white sugar. NO white flower. No MSG which is under 17 different code names. Such as natural flavors, flavorings, spices, etc. IT is a huge cause of depression and in so many things. Try less gluten in your diet. Use essential oils such as Neroli, Rosemary, Jasmin,. I like Neroli (orange blossom) it really works, though you may need to use it often. I carry it in my pocket. Also Being on the Internet can be draining. You can use stones to realign your energy fields, by holding them in your hands while you are on or off the net. I use amber, Kionite, citirne, and serpentine. They dissolve negative energies. Also take salt baths they rid the energy field of negative energies. Sometimes other subtle entities try to latch on to ones aura without us really knowing it and it can cause depression, and other negative emotions. People who are vegetarian are more awake and experience these things more, generally than those who are not. Though you may not be aware what is the cause of it. No eggs, union or garlic, being they put one in the mode of ignorance which causes depression and not offerable to God. , offer all of your food to God with love and devotion. Also do some Yoga it releases a lot of tension including emotional. All these thing help balance us as we go through this journey. Mainly keep the mind constantly attached to God Whom I call Krishna. Write if you have any other questions.

Q: How do I figure out what is the best diet for me with my busy schedule?
I'm a college student, I have two jobs (three if you count babysitting) and go to school full time. I'm on the go constantly so I need a diet that is flexible and will work for me. How do I figure out what is the best diet and exercise plan for me? How do I loose the pounds without spending a lot of money?

A: When I was younger I did well by just planning ahead. I didn't need a specific diet plan so much as always knowing what I was going to eat and having quick options available. I always kept raw veggies in my backpack and kept at least 3 nutritious meals on hand so I wouldn't be tempted by the Golden Arches. Decide on your study foods too. You'll want to snack and that's not bad but you need to make conscious decisions. I liked air popped popcorn with garlic salt or a little curry powder. You need to write your exercise into your schedule and make it a habit. I would take advantage of the opportunities your college has available. I loved weight training but it's up to you what you will stick with. It's best to have a buddy or a group or at least a specific goal so you don't slack off.

Q: What is the best way to diet & exercise when all the healthy foods are so expensive?
Financially I am not able to join a gym, or any of the diet plans like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. I am slowly losing weight by speed walking and cutting back on my food intake. I was wondering if there were any good specific exercises I could do. I set small goals so I don't get discouraged and rarely set a time frame, however I am in a wedding at the end of July and I'd like to look my best. Any suggestions?

A: Be honest with yourself. There is only so much you can do in a month, and it can be a little dangerous to starve yourself or overdo it with exercise. The thinnest and healthiest people are not necessarily the ones who go to the gym, but the ones who exercise outside doing things that excite them and therefore become a fun and sustainable part of their lives. Going for a walk or run outside is usually a lot more stimulating and rewarding than doing it on a machine in the gym. So I think you are doing well if you are seeing regular progress. I would simply continue to be careful about food quantity. You might want to add a second type of exercise to your weekly routine, including workouts with simple weights, which you can buy cheaply at a sporting goods store. Sleep well. Avoid alcohol. Keep the routine and be proud of yourself that you are making progress.

Q: What is the best Diet Suppliment to help in losing weight?
I'm trying to lose weight as I think I am really over what I should be. I know diet and excercise is the best way to do it but I also think trying a diet suppliment will help as well. Several nurses from the hospital here in town said that with Trimspa they have already lost 30 pounds in a month. I just want to say I agree with you, I thought it was funny that a nurse would reccomend it but she did.

A: Don't put any junk in your body, just use your willpower, you are trying to rid yourself of all the yuck not add to it.

Q: What is the best diet to use along with exercise?
I am trying to drop around 10- 15 pounds by mid July. I am not looking for a fad diet however If it works fine.. I excerise 3 times per week. What is the best diet to use. I am open to all real suggestions

A: Switch all your whites to browns (bread, pasta, rice), eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day, have snacks consisting of protein/fresh fruit (such as a handfull of almonds and an apple), drink tea if you enjoy it, and drink water throughout the day (it helps to carry around a water bottle or bottled water). Please don't go on any kind of fad diet - if you are working out your body needs carbs, protein, and good fats. Trust me on this one - eat healthy, more often with smaller portion sizes. Guaranteed you will have more energy and drop those fat pounds by mid July. Good luck!

Q: What is the best diet to go on when you have a bad gallbladder? Is it better to go on a liquid diet instead?
If so what kinds? He has a 2 ounce stomach cause he had Gastric bypass done he can not eat jello, yogurt, nutrition drinks, so what else would be the best thing I mean he needs a light diet so he won't have any attacks.

A: I had a compacted gallbladder(full of stones)is his?If so he needs to have it removed period..the gallbladder I was told filters all the fat and toxic stuff that goes through our body so ANY fatty foods will definitely cause an attack and they are so pain full, almost as bad as the worst contraction I had before I gave birth to my son ouch!!Maybe something like a drink called Insure it is kind of pricey but gives full vitamins that the body needs made especially for lactose intolerant most grocery stores sell them just ask.good luck!!Oh yeah by the way if you did have the gallbladder removed it is painless and quick they put you to sleep and now they can make a cut about the size of a quarter long and thin width wise too. I can barely see mine.If you do go on a diet remember no fatty foods and a liquid diet might just be the answer.for now

Q: What is the best diet to have while taking a 6 week cycle of dbol?
Will your diet help you lose fat while still gaining muscle from the steroids? What is the best diet?

A: If you want any results from the dbol you have to increase your calories and protein intake. You need to eat a lot. You won't build muscle without the food. I wouldn't try to lose fat until after the cycle. Don't forget nolvadex for pct.

Q: What is the best way to change my pups diet to raw?
I hav a 5 1/2 month old siberian husky and a 41/2 yr old gsd/lab mix. I am considering switching them to the prey model diet. wat is the best way to go about this? everywhere i ask i get conflicting answers. should i do it cold turkey or intergrate it slowly in her existing meals? all thoughts appreciated. thanks in advance.

A: Most people who jump to RPM switch all at once. Because of the differences in the way raw digests and the way kibble digests you actually can increase the chances of a bacterial reaction by feeding them both at once. Basically what happens is kibble takes longer to break down than raw meat so if they eat kibble and meat together the kibble slows the meat down which means the dog's most effective means of ridding itself of harmful bacteria. IF you choose to graduate slowly feed raw in the morning and kibble at night. Make sure you only feed half of the normal kibble ration. I would not recommend going this route but it is your choice. Weeks 1 & 2: ONLY chicken. Don't grind it, make sure it is labeled as hormone, additive, preservative and chemical free. You can leave the 'giblets' in for the organ requirement but you don't have to. There is a period sometimes referred to as the 'detox' phase where both dogs will have runny stool, increased shedding and on occasion dogs will act differently than normal. Keep an eye on them and if you begin to feel concerned speak with your vet. Many vets are misinformed about raw feeding so be prepared to deal with idiocy. I suggest that you join a couple of support groups (yahoo has some) or a forum so that you have a support system in place. ETA: There are vets now who advocate, support and know about feeding raw. Few and far between as of yet but they are learning. I meant it more as a check to make sure the dog is not sick. IE) Dog starts showing lethargy, fever and has a strange smell= vet visit.

Your total calories for the week must not exceed, 1500 x 7 = 10,500 calories this will give you leave way to indulge at special occasions like wedding and parties, but you must write down what you eat and account for the calories latter and adjust the total intake next week. Please read my article on this subject and follow them. While at it build your body too, while reducing by doing body parts specific exercises. If you are not too old, then best way to reduce your weight is to increase your height. Vegetarians have a big advantage, in loosing weight, it cost less and they can satisfy the hunger more easily, some vegetables have only 1 calorie per pound, so they can fill themselves up with it before enjoying each meal, and never go hungry. Most people should take one a day water soluble multi-vitamins when on this program; they can be purchased at the pharmacy near you. http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet.html http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/bmi.... http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv1-mdp&p=Calories+chart ******** Increasing the Height By minootoo In rare cases, you can increase the height up to age 30. Cycling is good exercise and fun too. You need to adjust the seat so that when you paddle from seating position you will actually stretch your legs, it is a difficult position but doable. For safety you need to be on track and not in traffic, safety first. The FEW things I did at least helped me. Swimming. Not just playing in water, but serious laps type swimming, do not try to beat the clock but steady full strokes swimming. Remember slow and steady wins the race. Stretching exercises on floor. Find them on line. Chin ups. Full stretch type. Swinging from a rope. Full stretch climbing. In other words do things that require stretching. STRETCH-STRETCH-STRETCH-STRETCH PS In the morning after good night sleep every one is about 1/2 inch to 1 inch taller. This is because the soft tissue between the bones recovers during the time when there is no weight on them. Older people loose height due to bone loss. I was 5', 7'' I am only 5', 5". Issue of Genes: You know only the active genes but genes can stay dormant for generations. I believe that every one has some tall height genes, dormant or active; I again believe that certain exercises can activate those. Again Swimming: You will start out with half a lap and build up day by day, half a lap at a time. Then you will swim non stop for 1/2 an hour. The speed is not important but you must use various strokes and do them correctly, completely, slowly and perfectly. This way you will have full stretch, and its benefit. Eating healthy foods and taking rest as specially sleeping soundly at night is very important. Most people need 8 hours of good sound sleep per night, some need more and few get by with 4 hours only. In the mean time use high hills and take advantage of hair-do, wardrobe can do wonders too; vertical striped clothing can create a taller look for most people. Hormones: Under strict supervision of a doctor they do wonders but the side effects are delayed and unpredictable so doctors do not like to use them. Surgical Procedures: There are surgical procedures but most doctors will not do them till the person is 30 years or so. They also have to be very short. ********* Life Style Change Program for Loosing Weight By minootoo Who needs to loose weight? Answer is simply not every one, only the over weight person. Who is over weight? This is simple, it is easy to find out and it is available on line, it is call Body Mass Index, and calculations are simple. According to this calculation if you find your self say only 10 pounds more, you may not be over weight. Remember every one is slightly different and you can just watch it, on your own and not let it get out of hand. What is the reason for being over weight? This is also simple, have doctor check you out for any physical or hormonal abnormalities. The doctor should be advising you of your ideal weight even though you have already figured out the ideal weight and you are seen a doctor because your weight is not where it should be according to BMI. Basic understanding of loosing weight. Every one uses calories at all time. There may be some exceptions to this rule, for most of us; the rate of use, even when we are resting, we use 65 calories per hour minimum. This comes to1560 calories per day. The actual range is between 65 and 100 calories per hour. This is consistent with heart rate of 60 to 80 bits per minute. Simply put any person eating only say 1500 calories a day will not put on any additional weight. At this level of calories consumption the person should loose some weight over long haul, depending on the individual rate of metabolism. What is a healthy weight loss? When one tries to loose weight, one should loose excess fat; there should be a healthy loss of weight. Loosing muscles tissue is unhealthy. How much is one pound of body fat? One pound of body fat weight is approximately same as one pound of butter. If you look at a one pound package of butter, you will see it contains between 3200 to 3600 calories. This means that each time a person burns 3600 more calories then what the person takes in, the person will loose one pound. How many pounds should a person loose in a month? Any one that is trying to trim down can figure out how long it took to put on the excess pounds. The fact is; it did not happen over night. It usually creeps up, but the person realizes one day suddenly. This is why a person should not be in a hurry to loose weight. The person should start at once but go slowly. Do not wait for New Year. Taking above in to consideration a person should not loose more then 2 pounds per month. If a person looses any thing more then that, chances are that the person will not be able to maintain the weight loss. It will take extra efforts to loose and it will take extra efforts to keep it off. Remember slow and steady wins the race. When an overweight person should start loosing weight? At once. The person should not be in a hurry to loose weight. The person should start at once but go slowly. Again do not wait for New Year. How does body react to weight lose? Any time there is depletion of fat beyond certain level, the body reacts by slowing down metabolism, so that it can build up fat. If the body is use to say 2000 calories per day and detects only 1500 calories per day for considerable length of time it reacts to the situation by reducing the rate of metabolism. When this happens one need to help body by increasing activity. Usually takes about four weeks for body to react. What is the relationship between body and body fat? Under ideal condition fat act as a reserved energy source for our body. Certain level of fat is good for healthy living and even may save our life in certain life threatening situations. Every one should have minimum required level of fat on their body. What if there is no weight loss at 1500 calories in take level? This is a rear occurrence. Do not panic. The body has slowed down the metabolism to such a great extent that you must help it. The only way to help is to increase activities, this means you have to exercise. You do not need to join Gym but you can go on an an half an hour walk every day or batter still engage in a power walk for same duration. Power walk burns 250 calories per mile and walk burns 100 calories per mile approximately. What is the importance of body fat for a female? Females require little more body fat then men. In the absence of certain required level of body fat, females are not able to function properly; in particular they may not be able to conceive. You can find lot more about this on internet. At 1500 calories intake per day what one must drink and eat? Drink One gallon of liquids most of witch should be in the form of water (zero calories). Calories should be accounted for all other liquids. Why water? Water is a universal solvent, means it dissolves almost every thing at least in very minute quantities. This helps purification of body. Eat What should be your proportionate in take of fat, Proteins and Complex Carbohydrates? This depends on what your need are. 1.Need to reduce fat. Fat: 10 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 150 calories. Complex Carbohydrates: 30 percent of 1500 calories per day = 450 calories. Proteins: 60 percent of 1500 calories per day = 900 calories. 2.Need more energy. Fat: 10 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 150 calories. Complex Carbohydrates: 40 percent of 1500 calories per day = 450 calories. Proteins: 50 percent of 1500 calories per day = 750 calories. 3.Need to reduce weight only. Fat: 25 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 375 calories. Complex Carbohydrates: 25 percent of 1500 calories per day = 375 calories. Proteins: 50 percent of 1500 calories per day = 750 calories. 4.Need to increase muscles bulk, but still reduce weight. Fat: 10 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 150 calories. Complex Carbohydrates: 15 percent of 1500 calories per day = 225 calories. Proteins: 75 percent of 1500 calories per day = 1125 calories. Exercise the muscles you want to develop, you can find right exercise on line, recommend use of light weights. Foot note: To take fat is so important, while reduc

Q: What is the best reason not to compromise your vegan diet?
I believe there are reasons, some of them good in which it might not be immoral to compromise ones vegan diet and occasionally eat diary, egg, or honey, often times hidden in products at potlucks, dinner invites, cafeteria food, air plane meals, after church snacks, etc. However there may also be good reasons to suffer through such events and situations. What in your opinion would be the best of the reasons not to go ahead and compromise.

A: I just really don't want to. Not even tempted to. I know the realities of the egg industry, frankly 90%+ of eggs come from battery hens, and even free range or cage free eggs have no real federal guidelines, the hens could still be packed beak to rear in a warehouse somewhere. If you can buy the eggs in the store, odds are overwhelmingly against the egg being cruelty free. Since I can't guarantee the source of the egg or whether the cruelty endured justifies getting to eat eggs, I won't eat it. As for dairy, I don't think it's normal to consume dairy products. I find it revolting and creepy to imagine an adult breast feeding off of their mother still, and yet people nationwide consume gallons of milk from a mother of a totally different species - a cow, and they eat the flesh of that mother that nourishes them, and then the industry responsible takes that mother's child and cages it for weeks so that it remains tender and juicy, kills it and sells it as food and people eat that child as well... I mean seriously, if you take a step back it sounds absolutely ridiculous and freaky to me. If I replace the species involved with humans and aliens or monsters it'd be like a B-rated horror movie. Plus I know about conditions on dairy farms, and once again I can't verify whether the animal was treated how I feel it deserves to be treated - and odds are it didn't. Unless it's me or someone I know that owns the cow or chicken providing the eggs or dairy, there's no way to be sure of what they were fed, how they spent their lives, of just how squalid the living conditions were. It's like - if you don't know exactly what you're putting in your mouth, and how it was made start to finish, why would you? Especially knowing that odds are it is probably something you wouldn't WANT to put in your mouth, that if you actually saw how it was made on a factory farm commercial level, and thought about it, you'd gag at the very smell of the product. That's how I am with beef because I saw an actual cattle farm, and that smell is burned into my mind so much that it overwhelms the scent of sizzling steak... it smelled like ten thousand backed up toilets, rampant rot, and old blood (which smells very metallic and weird). I'm actually wondering if I can do a similar undercover thing for a large scale commercial dairy or egg farm, to be honest, because though I believe in what I have seen and heard from others, nothing gives me the power and satisfaction that accompanies actually seeing it myself and knowing I was right all along. Nothing concerns me more than people who are so convinced that it's all propaganda that they'll deny it even on their death beds, but they themselves have not been inside and seen commercial suppliers. We are not talking about ma and pa ranches and dairies that commercials are shot at, we're talking about who supplies 80-90% of chain store supplies, the stuff that most of the nation relies on.
