Q: protein diet?
Can any one tell me where online i can find a protein diet for a mother of two little boys that needs a lot of energy? Thank you very much for your help!

A: i don't have an on-line site for you to go to however, i can share with you what i've tried and it works------eat lots of peanut butter, red meat, eggs, at least four times a day---of course in moderate amounts. good luck!!

Q: Is a high protein diet a quick way to lose weight?
I recently got down to 9st4lb from 13st, it took a year and i did it by walking and running around after my baby. I've gone upto 9st 10lbs recently but i want to be just under 9st by the beginning of June. I have hit the bar, my exercise isn't shifting anything at all. If i cut most carbohydrates out and eat a high protein diet will this help shift stubborn weight? I've heard its dangerous so is there a way to make it safer yet still effective?

A: Eat a high protein diet but don't cut out carbohydrates completely. Continue to exercise even though you may feel you are not achieving very much. When loosing weight you sometimes hit a "brick wall" which is very discouraging but do soldier on.Don't forget , even though you are eating the "right food" you can still eat too much of the "right food".Its a simple equation , "calories in"- "calories out."

Q: How do I alter a low carb/ high protein diet to eliminate casein?
I have Narcolepsy and a low carb/ high protein diet is recommended but I am allergic to casein. It actually makes the symptoms worse. The Atkins, South Beach and Abs diet are all very dairy dependent. Any suggestions?

A: While I don't endorse the Atkins diet method, a low-carb/med. healthy fat/high protein diet is generally the best approach for fat loss. Alternative protein sources to milk products are: lean pork, lean red meat, whole eggs, egg whites, chicken, white fish, and turkey (I especially like the 98% fat free ground turkey with soy sauce, garlic, and broccoli when dieting). --Josh

Q: What are the benefits of a soy protein diet or a high protein diet?
Going on a high protein diet or soy protein diet will it help you lose weight. If so what foods should i eat on it. And what are other benefits of going on this diet. Im trying to lose 40 pounds.

A: One of the best benifits is protecting your muscle and organs. If you do it wright it will slow down your inslin production and slow down sugar cravings. I would suggest taking a multivitamin to help you get the other nutrition that you might be lacking. It really depends on the company and the quality of of the protein. Hope these links might help.

A: You should check out the diets for gastric bypass patients. Try barix clinics or I know for sure the nutritionist at GBMC, Nancy Lunn has an excellent high protein diet set up for the gastric bypass patients. I actually tried that diet for a little while. It's very very hard to do, but I lost a good bit of weight.

Q: Can anyone recommend a low protein diet for dogs that are picky?
My Maltese was recently diagnosed with Microvascular Dysplasia (her liver doesn't filter right) and needs a low protein food. Problem is...she's very picky. I would like to find a diet that is about 25% (or so) or less protein. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

A: Research the top rated senior dog foods and compare their nutrition information, and pick the quality senior dog food that has less protein than the others. Here is a site that will show you which dog foods are the best and the worst. I suggest that you get any one of the dog foods that are top rated. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ Most of grocery store dog food formulas, like IAMS, Pedigree, Science Diet, Purina, and etc contain "meat and bone meal" which has been known to contain dead dogs and cats that were euthanized in animal shelters. Their bodies are picked up and bought by the truck load by "rendering plants" , that also pick up road kill, dead live stock, and etc. They are shredded, and boiled. They skim off the fat on the top of the "soup" and collected it and sell it to pet food companies as "animal fat", the rest of the animals' remains are crushed up, dried and sold to dog and cat food companies as meat and bone meal. You can read more about it here. http://earthislandprojects.org/eijournal/fall97/fe_fall97petfood.html Here is an article where the owner of a rendering plant talks about it. He says that cremating the dead shelter animals would cause pollution, and that rendering them is good. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m5072/is_12_26/ai_115041999 Here is further information on what you shouldn't see in the ingredients list in your dog's food. http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=badingredients Top rated dog foods like Canidae contain good healthy ingredients.

Q: I need to put my 10 year old dog on a low protein diet. What specialized dog foods are available?
He has been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. It has been recommended that I put him on a low protein diet to help control the disease. He is currently taking antibiotics and the vet also recommends regular blood and urine testing to be sure it doesn't get worse.

A: I think you would be VERY happy with Eukaneuba brand.. HOWEVER.. DO NOT PUT THE DOG on Eukaneuba all of a sudden.... mix your regular dog food with eukaneuba and then eventually increase the proportion of eukaneuba and until you have tdotally eukaneuba

Q: What are some really protein packed foods to eat that are good for a protein diet?
I've always been really good at staying thin and not over eating. But suddenly ,about 6 months ago...I began craving foods that I normally do not like...such as chocolate and other sweets. Now I 'am having trouble controling my cravings for some reason.I never was a huge fan of food and only ate when I needed to..and had great self control over those sorts of things. Why now? What gives? Is a protein diet along with exercise a good idea?I've never in my life had to diet, so I'm a true newbie on this topic.I have gained 15 lbs and gone up 3 sizes in 6 months...HELP! lol i think i would know if i were 6 months pregnant...periods don't last that long either.lol plus....i've been.....uh hum...fixed,so to speak.

A: All meets have protien in them but you need to keep them lean. Milk and eggs have protein in them, but try to stay with two percent and eat no more than one egg a day so that you don't get high choleteral. What you do need to know is that you need to eat an even balanced diet. Look at the food perimid. Eat only carbs that are good for you, not the carbs that comes from sweets but the ones that come from whole wheat and grain. If you balance out your diet, it will take away those cravings that you have so often. A lot of times we crave those things because of a nutrient we are needing but these nutrients can be found in lots of other good nutritional food. Assuming that you are eating to many carbs and that is why you are wanting a protien diet (wink)

Thank u.. vegetarian "protein" diet... just pulses, milk, water & vegetables... a "little" olive oil in salads... no carbohydrates like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc & no fruits & sugary stuffs... i am a strict vegetarian since i was a kid...

A: Hello, Just as an FYI - I lost 40 lbs in 40 days switching from "Meat & Potatoes" to strictly vegetarian with 70% live foods (fruits & veggies) and 30% nuts & whole grains - that's just as complicated and as simple as my "diet" was .... ... needless to say, with results like that - I've been vegetarian ever since!! Q: Are bowel movements supposed to be regular when on a high protein diet?
I just started the Extreme Fat Smash Diet and it seems to me that it is a high protein/low carbohydrate diet but there is hardly any meat. There is fish, beans, eggs and soy burgers in the diet as far as protein goes but not much else. It seems as though I don't have to "go" as much as when I eat normally. I'm a little apprehensive because I know it is a rule that you should have a BM at least once a day, but it's been 3 days. Is it because my body is absorbing all of the "light" foods that I have been eating? Please help! A: You know your bowel movements better than anyone else. But its funny, when I am on a high protein diet, seems as if I can quit going (lol)! Are you eating the same portion(s) as before? Do you feel bloated? Less than 3 movements a week may indicate constipation. Chronic dehydration, lack of exercise, and low amounts of dietary fiber can all lead to constipation, so your alternative diet could be a factor! Also are you exercing, and/or drinking enough water? If you dont have a bowel movement by the 5th day, I would recommend going to the doctor. (I am hesitant on saying going to the doctor on the 4th day) Your health is important! Over-reacting is WAY BETTER THAN under-reacting! GOOD LUCK!
