A: Eucalyptus is supposed to do many things like calm the soul and it soothes the mind USE IT it's a good thing and helps you relax

Q: How long do you have to season eucalyptus tree wood before burning?
Does anybody know how long you need to season eucalyptus tree for. Also can you burn any wood in an open fire (ie treated) and can you burn un seasoned wood?

A: The rule of thumb for drying wood is that it takes about 1 year to dry 1 inch of diameter. However, that is wood to be used for woodworking. For burning, 3 months is about the minimum for split wood, but it may dry faster in California than in less-warm British Columbia. I would strongly advise not burning any treated wood, or wood painted with lead-based paints, which will be about all wood painted prior to 1972 or '73. The green treated wood has a lot of arsenic in it. There is enough arsenic in a 12' 2x6 to kill 10-12 people. And since arsenic is a metal, burning won't destroy the toxin. Any dry, split wood will burn in a properly built open fire. Some woods will spit out a lot of sparks, though, so be careful where you build your fire pit, if that's your plan. Dry wood will burn hotter and cleaner than wet wood. You can start a fire with dry wood and newspaper, then add the wetter, unseasoned wood once the fire is burning hot and there's a good bed of coals there to remove the water from the wetter stuff. However, some wood species holds a lot of water and won't burn very well. Some types of wood emit toxins when burning, and I wouldn't roast hot dogs over these fires. I don't have eucalyptus here in the north, so I would recommend googling around to see if that wood is safe to use.

Q: What are the benefits of burning eucalyptus oil?
I have a very bad cold and I am very congested besides taking over the counter meds, I am also trying to aid myself by burning some eucalyptus oil because people are telling me how it can help the situation. However, is it true? If so, can you give me a valid reference. Thanks a lot! Hellloooo can I get some answers here?

A: Eucalyptus has long been respected for its ability to lower temperatures and help the respiratory tract by loosening and removing mucus during attacks of bronchitis, coughs, inluenza, sinusitis and throat infections. Added to a foot bath it is a prime remedy during feverish attacks. Use in inhalations and airsprays during outbreaks of disease such as those mentioned above or chickenpox or measles. Its antiviral and antibacterial action will deter further growth of the bacteria or viruses. At the same timeit will also have the effect of giving some protection to other members of the family. Another useful and interessting property of eucalyptus oil is that it removes many stains and grease marks from clothes. It's definitely a brain cleanser - crystallising the mind like a breath of fresh air and aiding concentration. Caution: Avoid using if you have high blood pressure. Avoid using if you suffer from epilepsy. A few drops of ecualyptus on a tissue placed on the bedside table will help to clear a stuffy nose and allow you to sleep.

Q: How do I distract oil from the eucalyptus tree?
I have looked and looked for the answer, but only get what the oil is good for! We have quite a few eucalyptus trees in our garden, and are really keen to know how to get the oil from them. Please, can anyone let me into the secret - for that is what it feels like - a secret! By the way, we are English, living in France! Perhaps if we were Austrailian, we would know the answer already!!

Q: Is it safe to put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in the bath while pregnant?
I have a sinus infection and am very stuffy. I usually take a bath and put about 10 drops of eucalyptus oil in the tub. Is this safe to do while pregnant? I am 26 weeks.

A: Use the Vicks baby rub! It's ment for infants(3 months and older). The first poster is wrong. I talked to my doctor. She had me use the Vicks baby rub which had Eucalyptus oil, Lavender oil, and Rosemary oil in it. It's menthol you should stay away from. If you really want it in you bath just use 5 drops instead of 10.
