Q: how good is eucalyptus wood for the fireplace burning?
A: As it is very brittle, it should burn rather quickly and with plenty of heat. It may "spit" a bit so I would use a spark guard.
Q: Can Anyone tell me how to recognize teak wood versus eucalyptus?
I need some outdoor patio furniture. I know that teak is stronger but I ignore how not to be fooled, by buying eucapyptus for teak. Thank you for your time..

A: If you wanted you food tasting of cough medicine. Plus only a few types of eucalyptus are consumable many species are highly poisonous. Even Koala's can only endure so much, which is why they eat so slowly.
Q: eucalyptus tree (wood) who will buy it?
who will buy eucalyptus tree or wood? friend of my bought a land with 50 thousand trees, and dont know what to do with that! any ideia how he can do business with the trees?
A: Wood from most eucalyptus species makes good fuel as firewood (http://library.csustan.edu/bsantos/section2.htm).
It has also been used as a source of building materials, where its color, flexibility and resistance to rot has made it popular in some circles for flooring, etc.(http://www.countyfloors.com/species_eucalyptus.html).
Similarly, its strong weathering ability makes it useful for outdoor furniture (http://www.nextag.com/eucalyptus-wood-furniture/search-html).
Of course there are the specialty uses like oils and herbals, as mentioned by others, but it sounds like these major uses might be better considering the size of the planting involved.
Q: What is the best affordable wood for outdoor furniture?
We need a new dining table and chairs for the garden. We can't afford teak but there appears to be a wide selection of products in either acacia wood or eucalyptus wood. Which of these two woods is the best choice and why? Of course if anyone knows a place to buy low cost teak furniture then please let us know. Thanks
A: I'm just a poor good ole boy, but if you can afford to buy any wood furniture for outside, especially a dining table and chairs, I'd say you could afford the teak.
Q: what is eucalyptus wood used for?
portugal exports eucalyptus trees what are they used for
A: ECONOMIC APPLICATIONS OF EUCALYPTUS-----
Eucalypts have many uses which have made them economically important trees.
Perhaps the Karri and the Yellow box varieties are the best known. Due to their fast growth the foremost benefit of these trees is the wood. They provide many desirable characteristics for use as1) ornament,2) timber, 3)firewood and4) pulpwood(pulpwood means wood for paper manufacture.)
Fast growth also makes eucalypts suitable as windbreaks.
Eucalypts draw a tremendous amount of water from the soil through the process of transpiration. They have been planted (or re-planted) in some places to lower the water table and reduce soil salination(5).(6) Eucalypts have also been used as a way of reducing malaria by draining the soil in Algeria, Sicily and also in Europe and California. Drainage removes swamps which provide a habitat for mosquito larvae, but such drainage can also destroy ecologically productive areas.
(7)Eucalyptus oil is readily steam distilled from the leaves and can be used for cleaning, deodorising, and in very small quantities in food supplements; especially sweets, cough drops and decongestants. (8)Eucalyptus oil has insect repellent properties and is an active ingredient in some commercial mosquito repellents
(9)The nectar of some eucalyptus produces high quality monofloral honey.
In the western United States the flowering is in late January, before the flowering of commercial nut and fruit trees, thus it is easily segragated and the honey produced has a flavour described as "buttery ".
(10)The ghost gum's leaves were used by Aborigines to catch fish. Soaking the leaves in water releases a mild tranquiliser which stuns fish temporarily.
(11)Eucalyptus is also used to make the digeridoo, a musical wind instrument made popular by the Aborigines of Australia.
So far 11 applicatins are listed above.

Q: which plywood should i use for wardrobes and for my kitchen?
should i use oak plywood or should i use eucalyptus plywood for wardrobes.
has anyone heard of a company called Bhutan Wood. they make plywoods. how good are they in terms of both commercial and waterproof plywood.
IS it better to use softwood or hardwood or a mixture of the two?
A: I wood use a plywood with a hardwood veneer for the exterior surfaces. Oak takes on a nice finish. I haven't used Eucalypt plywoods. Commercially graded plywoods should show equivalent minimum performance. Haven't heard of "Bhutan Wood".
Q: What is silica dimethicone silylate and would it be the active ingredient in the verseo detox foot patches?
It's an ingredient in Verseo detox foot patches. The patches are expensive but do really seem to work. I'm wondering what is the active ingredient so that I can make my own patches. The ingredients are listed as: dextrin, eucalyptus, globulus wood vinegar, agarious mushroom, menthol, tourmaline & silica dimethicone silylate. These patches work just like the picture shows on the web site. Weird!
A: Silica dimethicon silylate is an emulsifier (makes oil & water mix) and thickening agent. It has little to do with the efficacy of the product.
Here's a Dow Corning PDF on the subject: http://www.dowcorning.com/content/publishedlit/27-1255.pdf
If I were going to make this product, I'd use apple cider vinegar instead of wood vinegar & leave out the silica. BTW, it is Eucalyptus globulus (most common type of Eucalypt). I would guess the most potent ingredient in this product is the Agarious Mushroom, a sort of herbal chemotherapy. Read about it here:
